 HOW DOES MY CONTRIBUTION HELP?

12238317_784651424978155_2310352325244328556_oHigh Rocks Educational Corporation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all contributions are tax deductible.  Our federal tax ID number is 55-0743755. We commission an external audit annually.  80% of High Rocks’ spending goes directly to free, high-quality programs to educate, empower and inspire young people in West Virginia.

Over 60% of our budget comes from individuals and family foundations. Your contributions are what make High Rocks possible. All High Rocks youth are awarded a scholarship, worth $2000 each year, which funds their participation in the program for four years.

Your donation supports young people to go to summer camp, participate in weekly programs, have community youth centers to gather in,  do intensive service projects in their communities, have help with their college search, receive ongoing one-on-one mentoring and develop as a leader. By making a tax-deductible donation you are investing not only in an individual, but also in the vision of a future filled with positive, healthy West Virginia youth!

WAYS YOU CAN GIVE

GIVE STOCKS

  • Long-term appreciated securities with unrealized gains (meaning they were purchased over a year ago, and have a current value greater than their original cost) may be donated to a public charity and a tax deduction taken for the full fair market value of the securities – up to 30% of the donor’s adjusted gross income.
  • Since the securities are donated rather than sold, capital gains taxes from selling the securities no longer apply. The more appreciation the securities have, the greater the tax savings will be.

Gifts of securities (most stocks, bonds, etfs) that are open for trading throughout the day are valued at the average of the high and low prices of trades on the day the security was received into our brokerage account. Gifts of securities (most mutual funds) that are priced for trading at the end of the trading day are valued at that end of day price on the day the security is received into our brokerage account.

REMEMBER HIGH ROCKS IN YOUR ESTATE
