Development Manager or Director

High Rocks is seeking a full-time Development Manager or Director (depending on experience level). The Development Manager or Director works across the organization to lead on fundraising, marketing, and donor relationship goals. Core to the High Rocks mission of transforming the lives of young people in West Virginia the development role serves a critical role as the frontline fundraiser. This position requires a passion for connecting funders to the High Rocks core mission and vision by telling the High Rocks story. Working closely with the Executive Director and the development team, the development manager would be responsible for assisting with grant proposals, cultivating private donor relationships, establishing fundraising goals, executing marketing strategies, event planning, project management, and oversight on project progress.

Responsibilities (What you will do - 70% fundraising, 20% marketing, and 10% youth programming)

  • Lead the development team in fundraising across a diversified bunch of funders including grants, private donors, new sources, and established sources.
  • Create and manage a development calendar for tracking application and reporting requirements/deadlines.
  • Write, prepare, and submit grant applications
  • Project manage as it pertains to received grants, program progress, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Community outreach and relationship building for current and potential funders/donors including individual asks.
  • Coordinate fundraising events including planning and execution. 
  • Employ the overall High Rocks marketing strategy.
  • Promote our programs and success stories.
  • Newsletter, e-newsletter, website, and social media content development.
  • Staff supervision and project management by working with program managers to ensure metrics and program commitments are being met.
  • Youth programming support and assistance.

  • Collaborative and flexible team player
  • Marketing experience is a plus
  • Evaluation experience is a plus
  • 2 years Development Experience preferred (but not required)

This is a full-time, year-round position. High Rocks offers a generous total compensation package, including competitive salary, contribution toward health insurance and retirement, 5 weeks paid vacation, and a beautiful, dynamic, family-friendly workplace. Salary Range for this position is $45,000 - $65,000+ based on experience.
